There is a lot of research going on in the world, however the funding invested in it does not necessarily reflect the potential impact this research could have on-the-ground. Too many findings from social science research projects remain hidden in the pages of academic journals that only a small percentage of people can access: ideas and knowledge stay trapped in the academy, rather than rippling through broader society.
